So, I dyed my hair a shade darker and a little more warm of a color. My hair color is a cool toned light brown and my color isn't as fading as fast as I thought it would and my roots are growing out. It's not too horrible cause the color is similar to my natural color just has more of a bronzer tone to it and although people have assured me it doesn't look awful... I think it does and drastic times call for drastic measures.
I have done the research and here's what I got.
The perfect 12 step method:
Step 1: Wet your hair in the shower with very warm (not scolding) water until it is soaked.
Step 2: pour a quarter-sized amount of Dawn dish soap into hands and massage it into your scalp.
Step 3: rinse
Step 4: pour a quarter-sized amount of clarifying shampoo into your hands and massage it into your scalp until lather forms.
Step 5: rinse
Step 6: put 1 tsp. of baking soda (you can also add 1 tsp. of the gentlest peroxide you can find if you have a lighter hair color) to your hair and massage them into your scalp.
Step 7: rinse
Step 8: repeat steps 2-5
Step 9: gently wring the hair to remove excess water. Rinse your hair again to make sure all shampoo has been removed from your hair.
Step 10: wrap your head in a towel, and pat your hair dry.
Step 11: Massage a quarter-sized amount of clarifying conditioner into your hair from ends to roots, and wait five minutes before washing it out.
Step 12: Rinse the clarifying conditioner from your hair with warm water.
Note: Wash your hair every two days to speed up the fading process, and alternate between your regular (not for color treated hair)shampoo and conditioner and the clarifying shampoo and conditioner to avoid stripping natural oils needed for healthy hair. Do not repeat this entire process.
