I'll probably get hunt down and shot or something for saying this but it's my opinion and it's my right to do so.
I understand that TSA's procedures are a serious matter and up until this point I didn't mind doing all the stuff for security to maintain safety before I board a plane. However, I think the TSA is overstepping its authority and invading people's personal space and privacy more than they should be.
You don't need to see me naked on a moniter or grope me to tell whether or not I'm going to blow up the freakin world-- which I would never do. I love people and the earth and jesus way too much. haha. Speaking of which, my love for people has brought me to my concerns about the TSA.
Tom Sawyer is a 61 year old special ed teacher who overcame bladder cancer but now has to wear a bag that his urine drains into from a tube in his stomach. He was a victim of the "enhanced pat downs" of the TSA and he warned the TS Officer about the bag and to be careful not to break it and the Officer totally disregarded him and treated him like a criminal like most law enforment does to people that dont deserve it. The bag broke and spilt his urine and stomach juices all over him. And Sawyer is just one example of the TSA's ignorance and carelessness when it comes to good people with medical needs of some sort that are just trying to travel.
I feel so bad for these people and think the TS Officers should be put through more training and yeah of course they need to be tough but when it's an elderly man or a kid with down syndrome or an innocent middle eastern person with no hidden agenda or a girl trying to go home for christmas to see her family for the two weeks out of the year she gets to do so or whatever. There is a balance between seriousness and security and sensitivity. I'm not going to feel safe around these people if they treat me and others without respect. Again, I understand that there needs to be intensive security procedures, especially because of past terrorist attacks, but where will they draw the line...?????
