When I graduated High school I had no idea what to do with my life, what my college major would be or what I wanted to be when I "grew up". Once I started at my university I discovered Public Relations. I had no idea what it was but I talked to some classmates and counselors and decided to try it out. I chose it as my major and I am so glad. I have always lived a fast paced life. I have always be creative and loved art, design and writing. I love gaining new knowlege and I love networking, communicating, social networking and new technology. I was also raised by a business woman. I have had a budget, calendar and resume since I was like eight years old. All of these things make me who I am and all of these things make PR what it is.
PR is Innovative, Fast Paced and Design Oriented. It aloso involves a lot of Writing, Communicating, Networking, Social Networking, New Technology, Creativity, Business, Strategy, Budgeting, and Calendaring.
Some othger great things are:
- The PR world needs both newbies as well as the old and experienced.
- Everyone needs PR people.
- People trained and skilled in PR have a very wide spectrum of tasks, abilities and knowlege.
- It incorporates the knowledge of many departments and a person who starts out in the public relations department would not find it difficult at all to migrate into any other department of their choice.
- And PR is important to society and the businesses and figures within it.
Why were important to them:
- PR is the most economical way to reach mass audiences
- It stimulates awareness of and demand for your company products or services
- Develops a stronger, more controlled image for your firm
- Creates the perception that the company is active, "on the move" • Has seven times the credibility of advertising, studies show
- It provides an advantage over competitors who do not use ‘P.R.’ effectively
-Overall it brings credibility, visibility and valuation to whatever they are doing.
And you would think that was it, but there is so much more. This career is so complex but its fascinating and thriving and fun. I would highly reccomend it to anyone and everyone, especially if you're at all like me.

How to work out with out really working out.
Do you hate the gym and spending hours out of your day to work out, just to keep that holiday tummy from coming in? Well here are some ideas of how you can work out and burn off some fat with out really "working out".
One of the most important and easiest things you can do for your body is to Drink Water!!! Ice cold water!!! Only water!!! Nothing Else (Yes this means not coffee, hot chocolate, lattes, nothing)!!! Drink water and lots of it!!!
Drink the recommended glasses of ice water and more. Drinking 64 oz. (approx. 8 glasses) to 1 Gallon of water per day slims you down, makes you feel better, makes you feel fuller and is just all around good for your body.
The next thing you can do that's not to difficult are the following: Stand, Walk everywhere you can, Take the Stairs, Pace and Fidget! And this can be for anyone, especially the corporate busy bodys.
Stand- If you're sitting all day at work, try to standing some.
Pace- If standing isn't too bad or just doesn't do it for ya, this is the next step.
Walk everywhere you can- If you can walk to lunch, do it.
Take the Stairs- Take the stairs, not the elevator, not the escalator-- the stairs.
Fidget away! and those with restless leg syndrome, more power to you.
For those stay-at-homers, work-at-homers, whatever here's what you can do: clean and redecorate.
Moving around furniture – Burns about 225 calories.
Scrubbing floors -Burns 189 calories.
Washing the car – On average burns 153 calories.
Making the bed – 94 calories.
Dusting - About 120 calories.
Cleaning windows - Around 153 calories.
Vacuuming - Your looking at 84 calories.
Washing dishes – Burns 76 calories.
Ironing clothes – 190 calories.
Shoveling snow - A whopping 288 calories.
Laundry - My least favorite burns 72 calories.
Raking leaves – 171 calories.
Mowing the lawn - 162 calories.
Surfing the Internet – 60 calories.
Washing Windows – 144 calories for 30 minutes.
Gardening - About 162 calories.
Pulling weeds – 177 calories.
Mopping the floor – 140 calories.
Grocery shopping while pushing a cart – About 126 calories.
Watering outdoor plants – About 120 calories.
Cleaning gutters – 160 calories.
Walking the dog around the neighborhood – 147 calories.
Making dinner – 90 calories.
Playing outside with your children – 180 calorie.
Picking up trash and throwing it out – Around 120 calories.
Hey, and if all of this doesn't wear you out or just doesn't do it for ya, you can always watch TV (BUT DON"T USE A REMOTE) and jump rope on commercial breaks, OR why not play the wii or Xbox kinect-- see the new technology of the world, isn't completely why the obesity rates shot up.
For the partiers and goer-outers this is golden.
Rollerblading
Ice Skating
Dancing
Etc.
And one last note-- don't skip meals, and don't eat after 8 pm, especially on pig out days like christmas, chritsmas eve, new years eve and thanksgiving. I guess you can probably have your little glass of champagne or cider or whatever on new years but hey, thats it.

Colored Foods
Have you ever wondered what different colored foods can do for your body?
It's not really something most people think about but when reading an article recently about what celebrities do to keep themselves beautiful and saw something that sparked my interest in the topic of colored foods.
Mari ah Carey eats only Purple food three out of seven days a week to keep her skin looking fresh and colorful.
Purple food (such as: red/purple grapes and beets) can prevent the breakdown of collagen and slow the wasting of muscles. (However you may want to note that if you eat too many beets, your urine will turn bright pink.)Purle and Blue Foods are also really good for your blood and heart. They are good for prevention of heart disease and Blackberries, Blueberries, Dried plums/prunes, Raisins, Purple cabbage, Eggplant, Purple potatoes
Another color of food that is good to add color to your skin and hair, like purple food, is Orange food, specifically foods with keratin in them. But Orange and Yellow foods are good for more than just that. They are amazing foods to eat to strengthen and protect the lining of organs and other body tissues. Any peppers squash and fruits that are yellow or orange are great for these things.
The Color of food that is especially good for you is Green food. Not only are they full of fiber, water content, nutrients and vitamins, they are packed with the antioxidant known as Lutien which is good for your eyes, good for cancer prevention, and many other things. The Green foods you're going to want to look for are: Avocados, Green grapes, Kiwifruit, Broccoli, Green peppers, Spinach, Asparagus, Brussels sprouts, Green beans, Zucchini, Romaine Lettuce,Green peas, Snow peas. And if you started eating these foods, for 2 meals a day, I can't guarantee it, but I bet you would lose some weight. (See Clean Eating Article).
Now, while I was researching this, I found that there's a significant difference in whether the food is naturally that color versus whether it has artificially been colored and what effects that has.
For a guide on food coloring (or inactive ingredients) health side effects see
It's interesting what all these colors of food can do for you. It may even be something to keep in mind, next time you're grocery Shopping.

Germ Spreaders
Germs are here, there and everywhere. I researched the germiest places where germs are spreadt the most. Some places we all know are going to be crawling with germs, even if we try not to think about it. However, I found a few other locations that were particularly surprising. It all made sense but I never really thought about it all until now.

Clean Eating
People try diet after diet and never find something that isn't too hard and actually works. And once many people get off their diets they gain it right back. That is because they are "Dieting".
If you are one of these people, join the club. What you need to do, what we need to do is create better eating habits. Set up a new "Dietary Lifestyle", one that you can handle and enjoy.
I present to you... clean eating. Okay, it is a little hard the first day or two, especially if you love to over eat and indulge yourself with treats regularly like I do. But I can honestly tell you it works and it makes you feel great.
What is Clean Eating?
As explained a good friend of mine, Whitney, who is a certified personal trainer and has won a number of honors in fitness competitions all on her own, she told me:
"basically you take your food down to its purest, simplest form."
A few guidelines:
Eat every three hours
No Carbs after 4pm
No eating after 8pm
Don't add salt or sugar to foods.
Eat Serving Sizes.
No processed foods.
Drink approx. a gallon of water a day. (Distilled water is cheap and keeps the liver cleansed which will help you lose weight easier and faster and its just good for you)
Take your multi vitamins, milk thistle, and fish oils.
Only Whole Wheat- No white or enriched anything.
Only Lean Proteins (Egg Whites, Fish, etc.)- avoid fatty meats (which isn't hard for me at all since I'm vegetarian but for someone like my father who I know will die before the age of 65 from heart disease because he eats so much steak, that's another story. It will be more difficult for him but there is so many reasons you shouldn't be eating that stuff, I wont even go there right now.)
Here is what you got to do:
(I'm also including my plan that I started a few days ago)
Breakfast
You pair a serving size of grains &/or a complex carb with a lean protein.
My set up:
Option 1: ¾ cup Granola/Bran Cereal, Steel Cut oats or Oatmeal
& 3 egg whites
Option 2: Grapefruit
& 3 egg whites
Snack 1
You have a complex carb if you didn't have one for breakfast and if you are in need of an energy boost. If not go with just a protein.
My set up:
If you need energy: Apple
&/or
Protein Shake/Bar
Lunch
You want to have a protein and if you can pair with a grain and/or veggie if desired.
My set up:
½ cup of Beans/Edimome/Green veggies
(can pair with 1 serving of whole wheat, brown rice or pasta if desired)
Snack 2
You want another bit of protein.
My set up:
Option 1: 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
Option 2: ½ cup of almonds
Dinner
You want Green! and yes! More protein!
My set up:
2 cups Salad with Green Veggies
& ½ cup Beans or ½ fish fillet
(Light lime or vinaigrette dressing)
Easy Shopping List for it:
Small Tupperwear (half -2 cup sizes only) (will make it easier not to eat too much)
Sandwich Baggies
Apples
Grapefruits
Peanut Butter
Almonds
Other mixed Nuts
Fish fillets
Cans/ Bags of Beans
Whole Wheat Brown Pasta
Brown Rice
Eggs or Carton of Egg Whites
Juggs of Distilled Water
Multi Vitamins, Fish Oil, Milk Thistle
Protein Powder Mix
Almond Milk
Special K Protien Bars
(These fruits vegetables below are all the best you can choose. The Green Veggies with High water content and fiber and nutrients)
Green Bell Peppers
Spinach
Lettuce
Cucumbers
Broccolli
Green Cabbage
Ice Berg Lettuce
Green Peas
Zuccinni
Celery
The Clean Eating dietary lifestyle might not be for everyone, especially people who aren't into being the most organized, but It is a fantastic way to sluff off those pockets of baby fat and feel great doing it. You'll have tons of energy and its not too hard, you eat 7-8 times a day, its all healthy-good-for-you stuff. We all know we want to be healthy, it's just hard to find the motivation. You can do this. So, do it with me. The worst that could happen is you feel a little more awesome about your life.
