I'm walking in the airport with my guitar case in hand, and I'm stopped by a man who asks me the typical guitar type questions-- what kind of guitar do you have? have you been playing for long? do you perform? (well that last ones not so typical but anyways)-- then he goes on asking me the typical airport questions-- are you from utah? what brings you to utah? where are you from-- and I answer him, and in doing so I told him I was out at school at UVU and he was like oh cool and he proceeded to tell me information that I already knew because I go to the university, about the new university president and etc. and then he said one thing that really stuck out to me. He said: be proud to be a part of the most liberal thing in utah county (the county where BYU-provo, alpine and many other 90% LDS cities are).
This stuck out to me because it made me think about a view that I already had, which was/is that I'm sooooooo conservative for a Utah Mormon in comparison to the Liberal Washington D.C. area Mormon I once was. I think it's so funny. And it also made me think of the truth of his statement UVU is waaaaayyy liberal, mostly because of all the anti and jack mormons there, but that's only like 50 % of the student body... I don't know. I just think it's quite interesting.
